Literature Text

The next few weeks were filled with fun, laughter, and romance between Pinkie Pie and Dan.  They became closer and more fond of one  another each and every day.   Dan couldn't remember having such a great time with anyone else before in his entire life. Everything about her was just...just so amazing  in his mind. He loved the way she smiled, the way she giggled, the way she spoke...All of it made him fall harder and harder for her every time.

He tried not to get too close but all his attempts were in vain. He didn't  want to become so emotionally attached to her because he knew that he'd have to leave soon and he didn't want the departure to be so depressing and traumatic. Life is not always in one's favor though.  He always knew that little fact, of course. He grew up by that saying basically.

Now, though, it  didn't seem right.  To Dan, it just wasn't fair that he'd have to leave something that brought him happiness in his life. For once, he finally felt as if things were...perfect. Or at least very close to it. The very thought of it all going away made him cringe.

-------------------------

After another day of hanging with Pinkie Pie, Dan came back to the tree home where an eager Twilight Sparkle was awaiting for his return. As soon as he came in the house, he was instantly face to face with a grinning unicorn. He took a step back.

"Sheesh," he muttered under his breath. "What's up with you?"

"What's up, is that I did it! I finally perfected the spell that'll send you back home! Took a while but I'm glad that I got it down!" She smiled proudly.

"Oh...great." Dan mumbled.

"Sooo," Twi said, oblivious to Dan's sullen reply. "I think I'll be ready  to cast the spell tomorow morning. Is that alright with you?"

Dan sighed heavily. "...Yeah."

"Hey...uh, are you okay?" Twi asked, catching on that he wasn't totally thrilled about finally being able to return home. Suddenly, she saw the problem.

She slowly trotted over to Dan, with concern in her eyes. "...Did you tell her yet?"

"What? About the fact that I'd be leaving soon? Yeah, but THAT was a few weeks ago." He grumbled and turned away.

Twi put a hoof on his shoulder. "Would you like for me to hold off the spell for a few more days?"

Dan pulled away and looked down. "... As nice as that sounds, I really should get back to MY OWN dimension. It is home, after all. I got a best friend there and a pet. I've been away way  too long. I need to get outta here as soon as I can...So, yeah, tomorrow morning is fine."

"Okay then. I understand. Would you like for me to tell Pinkie-"

"NO!" Dan yelled.

Twilight stepped back by his sudden outburst. "What do you mean? Don't you want to say good-bye?"

Dan sighed. "That would only...complicate things."

Twi looked confused. "Uh, how so exactly?"

"...Look, if we do that, then it'll get...emotional and stuff. It'd be less painful if we just do this without her knowing. Ya get it?"

Twilight shook her head. "Sorry, but no. I don't. I think it'd hurt her AND you even more if you two do not bid each other farewell...But it's your decision. I won't say anything to her if you don't want me to."

Dan turned towards her with seriousness in his eyes. "You better promise."

Twilight exhaled deeply. "Cross my heart, hope to fly. Stick a cupcake in my eye."

Dan gave her a what-the-heck look but shook it off. "Alright. Good...I guess I'll go to bed now."

"Okay. Sleep well. We got a big day ahead of us..."

----------------------------------------------

It was a cold, cloudy morning and Twilight and Dan were getting ready to cast the dimension transportion spell. Twi grabbed her book and headed towards the door. She nudged for him to follow.

"C'mon. We better get started."

Dan followed her. "Uh, WHY are we going outside exactly?"

The unicorn shut the door behind them. "Because we'll need plenty of room to open up the portal that'll send you home. Hmm, there's a small field not too far from here. It's great place to cast the spell."

Dan said nothing and just stayed behind her as they treded onto their destination. The stallion to one last look at Ponyville. It looked gloomy and depressing. He sighed heavily and turned back around.

After about five minutes, they finally reached the open field. It was the same field where Dan was zapped to when he first came to Equestria. May as well go out where it all started. he thought to  himself.

"Okay." Twilight said, pulling out the spell book. "Let's get started."

She flipped through the book until she came to the right  page. She set it down and studied it for a moment. Then, took a deep breath.

"Step back." she instructed. Dan obeyed the order.

The mare's horn glowed faintly at first, but soon shone brightly. Radient beams flew everywhere. Suddenly, a powerful bolt of magic shot out and a blue, swirling portal formed in front of them. Twi exhaled.

"Well...There you go." she said between breaths. "Your ticket home. I hope you enjoyed your time here, Dan...and I'm sorry about-"

"It's fine." he cut off. "Hey, uh, thanks...ya know. Helping me out and such."

Twilight smiled, genuinely. "No problem and you are always welcome to come back, if you can."

The stallion nodded."Thanks...Well here I g-"

All of a sudden, Dan was pounced on by a pink pony. He grumbled and rubbed his head as he looked up to see who it was.  It was none other than Pinkie Pie.

"Dan, why didn't ya tell me you were leaving today?" she asked, with desperation.

"I...er...how'd you find out?" Dan asked, trying to avoid giving an answer.

Pinkie got off of him and helped him up. "Spike told me a little bit ago so I zoomed on over here as fast as I could!"

Dan glared at the little dragon who was standing behind Pinkie Pie. Spike looked away and whistled awkwardly.

"Why that little..ugh." Dan mumbled.

Pinkie at him, face to face and asked the question once again. "W-why didn't y-you tell me that you were leaving today? Were ya gonna leave without saying good-bye?" Her voice quivered as she spoke and she tried her best hold back the tears that were in her eyes.

Dan was instantly washed over by a wave of guilt, sadness, and shame. He bit his lip, trying  not show his feelings. The look in his eyes, however, told  Pinkie what he was feeling inside.

"L-look, I didn't tell you that I was leavin' because...because I thought it'd, well, make you sad if I did. Or at least more sad than if I didn't....I'm sorry." he apologized honestly. He felt something stinging in his eyes but held it back.

Pinkie looked down, sullenly. "Oh...it's...I forgive you, Dan." she smiled softly. "I wish you could stay here. Maybe just a bit longer?I'll miss you when your gone..."

Dan turned away. He couldn't bear to see the despair that was written all over her face.Especially since, he knew he was the cause of it.

"That sounds great. Really, it does. Your dimension is like a freakin' haven compared to mine...but I gotta go. I have friends, er, a friend there and I have a cat too. Both are probably missin' me like crazy! I'm sorry, Pinkie. I really am." he said, trying to look her straight in the eye.

Tears trickled down her face, despite her efforts. Dan sat down and buried his face in his hooves. Oh man. he thought What have I done?

For  a while, nothing was said between the two.  Twilight Sparkle and Spike looked upon them with pity from afar. Finally, Dan slowly got up, rubbing his eyes while doing so.

"...Well...I guess...this is...good-bye" Dan said through a strained tone of voice.

Pinkie quickly grabbed him and hugged him tightly. Tighter than she hugged anypony before. She let out a small sob.

"I'll...I'll miss you, Danny."  she whispered.

A single tear  ran down Dan's face. "Yeah...I'll miss ya too, Pinkie."

He stayed in her embrace for the longest time, but then slowly pulled away and stared into her eyes.  He kissed her softly on the forehead.

"Well...good-bye." he  uttered. He turned around and slowly made his way  toward the portal, leaving all that has brought him happiness behind.

He was only a few inches from the blue vortex when suddenly he heard Pinkie yelling out.

"Dan! Wait!" The mare ran after him. "Wait up!"

Dan turned around, wondering what she wanted.

"Hey, I just thought of something!" she exclaimed, her face no longer covered with sorrow but now with eagerness. "What if I come with you? Ya know, go along with you to your dimension?"

He looked at her, shocked. Happiness slowly started to fill up inside him but then he remembered something.

"Pinkie, that sound really, really, REALLY  great but I don't think that you'll like my  world all that much. It ain't all rainbows and sunshine there like it is here in Equestria."

Pinkie Pie smiled, nonetheless. "So? I mean, as long as if your there, then it'll be okay! We can still have fun together! So what do ya say?"

The stallion paused for a moment, pondering the question. He looked up at her.

"...Ya sure you wanna do this?" he asked, cautiously.

She nodded vigorously. "Yep, yep, yep! I never ever been more sure of anything in my whole life!"

Dan looked over to Twilight, who was fastly approaching them.

"Hey, Sparkler. Pinkie was wondering if-"

"Don't worry." Twi interrupted. "I heard the whole thing. Are you positive you want to go through with this, Pinkie?"

The pink pony nodded, once again. "Yes! I am soo sure!...Oh, wait...what about you and the others?" she asked, discovering a problem.

"Don't worry." Dan said. "We could always use that dimension machine thingy at to come back here so it ain't like you're saying good-bye forever."

Pinkie's face brightened. "Ooooh! That's right! I'll come back a lot to see you guys!"

Twilight smiled, feeling happy for her. "Okay. I hope you two have a great time in Dan's dimension. I'm looking forward to your visits."

Pinkie Pie hugged her friend tightly. "I'll be sure to tell ya all about the things me and Dan did when I come back!"

Twilight chuckled. "Heh heh! Can't wait to hear all about it." She looked over to Dan.  "Well, Dan, it was nice having you over."

Dan smirked. "Heh, thanks. Ya know, you're pretty cool. Waaay cooler than that Rainbow Crash."

"Excuse me?" Twilight asked.

"Er, nothing. Well, see ya later, Sparkler! Bye, Football!" he and Pinkie waved to the unicorn and the dragon. And then they stepped into the portal.
Well, here it is. The final chapter... So what did ya think? Do you like the way it turned out? What did you like the most of the entire story? Hope I didn't dissapoint y'all! (I still have an epilogue to write but it won't be very long and I may have it up in a few days.)
