Party's Over Chapter 2: A Dan x Pinkie story

Visit her during break, huh? Sheesh! Why didn't I think of that sooner?!  Dan thought to himself as he sped through town in his red Hatchback.  He zoomed down road and through red lights, much to other drivers' frustration. Dan didn't really give two cents about what they thought though.

Within about 10 minutes, he was at his destination: Sweet Tooth. Pinkie's bakery was pretty small but the fact that dozens of customers swarmed in every day made up for that.  It was only a matter of time before the building got an upgrade, what with all the cash that was rolling in.  People from all over town LOVED Pinkie's delicious treats. They described them as "out of this world".  

Dan quickly checked himself in the rearview mirror.   Yep, still handsome. he thought narcissistically. He then got out of his car and walked cooly towards the enterance of the bakery. The bells chimed as he went through the door.

"HEY, DAN!"

The man jumped at the sound of someone shouting his name. He calmed down though when he saw that it was just the person that he came for. Pinkie quickly wrapped her arms around him and gave him a big, tight hug.

"Hi, Dan! I'm so happy to see you! How are ya? Whatcha doin' here? Are you hungry? You wanna try my new Vanilla Mint cupcakes? Do you-"

"Woah, woah! Stop! You're doing the THING again." Dan muffled.

The THING that he was referring to, was when Pinkie said too much, too fast. It was a bad habit of hers, admittingly.

"Oops.Sorry." She giggled and set him down.

"It's...fine." Dan said in between gasps.

"So," said Pinkie, as she wrapped a strand of her curly hair around her finger. "Whatcha doin' here?"

A playful smirk came across Dan's face. "What? Aren't ya glad to see me? Yeesh, and I thought you were my girlfriend."

Pinkie chuckled and gently punched his shoulder. "Hehe! Of COURSE I'm happy to see you, Dan! I've just never seen you come HERE to see me before."

"Yeah, yeah. I know." Dan said as he sat down in a nearby chair. "So, you on your break or what?"

Pinkie smiled. "Yep! I'm gonna use this time to look through some job applications that people have sent in to me."

A frown formed on Dan's mouth. "Oh...Er, can't ya do that later?"

The pink haired girl noticed the sadness dripping in his voice and sat down next to him. "I'm sorry, but I can't. Why do you ask?"

"Well...I don't know. I was sorta thinking that we could go out and get lunch or something...We haven't really spent much time together lately. Just kinda thought that maybe we could do some catching up or whatever..." Dan explained softly.

Pinkie placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know. And I'm super duper sorry. Work has just kept me so busy lately...I miss being with you, too. It's been a while since we've done any fun things together!"

Dan sat up straight in chair and then leaned forward, resting both arms on the table. "Hey, ya got  any plans tonight?"

A smal smile came across her face. "I'll be baking a bunch of cookies this evening for a school's benefit dinner BUT I'll be free tomorrow."  She gave him a wink.

"Awesome! Come over to my place about 6, okay?" Dan exclaimed happily.

Pinkie grinned and got up. "Sure! Can't wait to see ya!"

"Yeah,  it's been forever since we hung out. I've been having to hang with Chris just to keep myself from dying of boredom." Dan rose to his feet. "Speaking of the Monkey Face, he asked me to ask you if you'd make some of those brownies that he basically binges  himself into a food coma on."


"Actually, I was gonna make those for the dinner tonight, too! I'll be sure to bake a few extra for him though."

"Yeah, the Fatty will be glad to hear that." Dan chuckled. "Well, be seeing you tomorrow."

"Okie dokie! Looking forward to it!"

The kissed.

"Bye!" Dan called out as he went out the door.

As he walked towards his car, a chill wind gusted across the parking lot. He shoved his hands in his pockets and stared at the ground. He's supposed to be happy, right? After all, he finally gets to spend some quality time with his girlfriend tomorrow evening.

So why did he have a nagging feeling that something bad was about to happen?
